Finding Inspiration in the Heart of an Old Mill Studio

I spent some time with Krissy at her studio recently, and it’s exactly what you’d hope a creative space in the Valley would be.
She’s set up in a corner studio of an old mill - Park Mill in Helmshore - all high ceilings, white-painted walls, and massive windows that let the natural light pour in. But the real standout isn't the building; it’s the fact that every inch of the space is covered in her work. It’s a proper explosion of colour.

During the visit, we talked about where "Find Your Pink" actually comes from. Krissy came across the analogy of “getting your pink back” a term used by new mums to describe reclaiming their identity and vibrant self. It’s inspired by flamingos, who actually lose their pink feathers while they’re busy raising their young.
That was the spark. Now, her mission is to help others find their true colour again and fill homes with a sense of freedom and unapologetic self-expression.
Watching Krissy work on a piece while I was there really backs this up. She doesn’t over-analyse or follow a rigid plan; she just does what she feels is needed in the moment. She talks about "trusting her body" and her instincts, starting with those raw scribbles and then building the layers from there.
There’s a real confidence in seeing someone work like that by just letting the art happen without the hesitation or over-thinking.

We got talking about her process and where things are headed, and there's some big news on the horizon. Krissy has been chosen for the cover of the Rossendale Art Trail brochure for 2026. It’s a well-deserved spotlight on her talent, and it’s going to be a great way to promote the Trail across the Valley. It's on from 29th - 31st May and Krissy's Studio will be open to visitors.
Seeing her work up close makes it clear why she’s gaining so much momentum. She’s bringing something fresh and vibrant to Rossendale, and she’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
If you get a chance to see her work in person, take it. Photos by Soule_Creative
