Live music, local art, handmade crafts, street food, mulled wine, and proper Rossendale community spirit — Music & Makers is set to be one of the most exciting new events this autumn. Expect a day packed with sound, colour, and creativity. From bold illustrations and expressive paintings to soulful live performances, this is a celebration of local talent in all its forms.

You’ll find incredible artists like Caroline Johnson, known for her lively sketches of Manchester life, and Karen Howard of Valley of Stone Ceramics, who brings clay to life with warmth and personality. Andy Buttery’s illustrations highlight the beauty of local landmarks (shown above!), while Patricia Carter from Paint Kitchen gives vintage furniture a sustainable, artistic twist. Add in Sue Langford’s nature photography and Marjan Wouda’s sculpture - yes, the artist behind the much-loved Sir Hare - and you’ve got a line-up that shows just how creative the Valley really is.

Alongside the art, there’s a brilliant programme of live music from a line-up of rising female artists and local favourites. Ellen Beth Abdi (you might recognise her from The Stone Roses and New Order collaborations) brings her loop-filled alt-pop magic, while Heather Ferrier reinvents folk with her accordion-led, high-energy sound. Bek Jones, Nico Harmony, and Charlotte Mary bring heartfelt songwriting and soulful vocals — and Ukes of Hazzy will keep things lively with singalong feel-good tunes.

Charlotte Mary - Country song-writer with a modern edge.

And of course, no Rossendale event is complete without something delicious. You can expect craft beer from Rossendale Brewery, coffee from Six String, and street food from Hungry Hungarians, Dany’s Kitchen, Wrapshack, and Ceylon Septor — plus cake, mulled wine, and that unmistakable market buzz.

Music and Makers is bought to you by the same talented team behind the popular Later@ music events that have been held across the valley over the last few years. It’s the kind of event that captures everything Rossendale does best: music, makers, food, and community. A proper day out, full of local pride and good vibes.

Music & Makers really delivered. Haslingden Market was full of energy all day — live music drifting across the stalls, artists chatting to people about their work, and that proper Rossendale buzz you only get when the community shows up. From ukes, loops and vocals, to the makers who brought colour, clay, prints, photos, and so much personality… it all came together perfectly. A big thank you to everyone who played, created, cooked, poured, organised, and came along. This is what the Valley does best.
